Have a Charles-Daily Mauser configured as a K98k.
Would like to rebarrel into a 30-06 hunting rifle/recreational target rifle. recreational meaning I understand it'll never be a .25 MOA Remington 700 tack driver.
Anyway, I am thinking of a rifle with these specs:
Would like to get .5 MOA but don't know if that's possible with the Mauser design.
It's been parkerized so finish may have to be stripped. Unless you'd advise I'd keep the parkerizing.
If you have differing opinions about the above specs such as different barrel length, metal or wood refinishing, accuracy expectations, etc. I'm willing to consider what you have to suggest.
Any gunsmiths you'd recommend? Would prefer not to spend more than $1000 for services. Quick turnaround a plus.
Link to the rifle as it is today: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=707673
EDIT:
This is a lot like what I'm looking for

Anyway, I am thinking of a rifle with these specs:
- Kreiger Sporter #3 with 10" twist, 20" barrel length chambered for 30-06
- Glass bedded in a Richard Microfit Monte Carlo stock, Bastogne Walnut Grade A Fancy
- Install Pachmayr brown recoil pad
- 2.5# trigger (unless otherwise advised)
- Fit Sunny Hills Floorplate
- Mount and lap a fixed power 6x42 scope.
- Blue rifle
- Linseed oil finish on stock
- True receiver & face the action
- Face receiver locking lugs for squareness, parallelism and concentricity
- Lap bolt to receiver
Would like to get .5 MOA but don't know if that's possible with the Mauser design.
