    AK-47 Build > What's the problem?

My build is nearly completed, but I'm having a problem with the selector lever not clearing the backside of the disconnector. I did pulled the trigger all the way back, so the disconnector would move all the way forward. It's a Tapco trigger, and I did try a different trigger with the same results.

In reference to your first picture. Take some material off the LEFT CORNER that touching the disconnector on the left side. Leave the right side corner alone.

You need to remove a small amount where it contacts if photo uploads I blacked out area. You could use dremel or file to remove material until it clears.

Common issue when changing between FA FCG, and Semi Auto FCG.
On Tater's pic leave the area he blacked out. Like Plisk says notch the bottom of the safety to clear disconnector.

Okay, guys, that's what I had thought of doing in the first place. However, I couldn't find this problem addressed anywhere on the internet, so I thought it might be something other than just removing the offending side of the selector.

          Thanks for the answers.

I had the same problem, polished the back of the disconnector with a belt sander. Problem solved!!

There isn't a whole lot of interference, so that might work.

I have two different selectors on two different builds. One has a small extension(?) on one side of the flat. Instead of filing, grinding or anything, pull it out and bring it in from the 'long way around'. If it still doesn't roll into place,THEN file it down a little to clear the sear and fall into place..
Keep filing down a little at a time until it will go into place for you... It will be a cleaner build and tighter. No slop in the safety and less chance you will remove too much or have normal wear take it toll and then give issues later..
                just my thoughts..

Try putting the selector in backwards first! As in, put the selctor in and rotate it counter clockwise. Youll have to pull it up and over the rivets and the selector stop but that souldnt be an issue. Try that first.
