    Recoil spring weight?

I'm trying to determine the recoil spring weight in my 1911 Colt MkIV Series 70, any ideas? It's struggling to eject spent rounds and just releasing the slide without actually racking the slide is next to impossible. I'd like to experiment with different weight recoil springs but need to know where to start.

    Thanks in advance, folks.

^^ This. 16 lb for a Government length and 18 lb for a Commander is standard.
