    AR buffer spring oops....

So im on a quest to lower my carbine's felt recoil.
I orderd a wolff xp spring. It arrived and i noticed i made a mistake in my order. it is for a rifle lenght stock.

Will this fit my carbine tube without problems or should i use this as a sign of above to build a 800+yd rifle in 6x45?

unless it said rifle spring on the package your fine. i had a wolf extra power spring one time and it was longer then a stock carbine one.
you can goggle the length to find out.
wolfs carbine extra power spring is longer then a normal spring

      It might actually work.

I have put a rifle-length action spring in a carbine receiver extension just to see what would happen and it actually cycled.

It was a Colt spring though, not a Wolff XP.

      Why not exchange it?

Im getting another lower and im going for a rifle setup. So the spring will come in handy. What worries me is will the xp spring be problematic in a rifle length gas system on a 6x45 upper.

Im going to try popping off some rounds and i will put up a report. Once i find out if it wont damage my tube/bolt/etc of course.

You should get a 9mm buffer , and a nice muzzle brake /compensator

i had a huge problem with this. i went to my local gun store who shall remain nameless.. *cough* j&R in Livermore *cough* *cough*. who sold me a "carbine" length spring. i looked at it and said "this looks long are you sure its not a rifle length?", to which the man replied " ive been shooting ar's longer than you've been alive, yea im sure" so i took it and left. got home put it in the gun and it wouldnt cycle. tried a half dozen types of ammo, changed the gas tube and still no go, took that upper and put it on my friends lower it ran fine, his upper on mine had the same problem as i did, it just would not cycle, put his buffer spring in my lower and bang it went everytime. so i went back to the shop and told them and they said since i didnt have a receipt i couldnt return or exchange it. needless to say YES this can be a problem and NO i will not give this ****hole any more of my money.
Lord let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to harm me and mine.

I've noticed a very slight difference however I've heard that a hydraulic buffer used in combo with a good compensator will reduce felt recoil down to that of a 22.

brake + A2 Stock = no more recoil.... But then it wouldn't be a carbine anymore. Would it?
