Thompson center 30-06 .. need help

    Hello,

I recently purchased a Thompson Center 30-06 hunting rifle and unfortunately Ive only been able to fire it two whole times. The first time I fired it the bolt became stuck in the closed position and I had to pry it open. The same thing happened the second time I tried firing from it and my guess is that the chamber(whatever its called) is does not have a large enough circumference to handle the expanding casing. Anyways, are there any gun smiths that would be willing to take a look at it for me, or is there a way I can fix it myself?

Im located in the Central Valley (Fresno area)

Post some pictures of the rifle and the new ammo and the fired case that is difficult to remove from chamber. That might allow us to offer better advice.

If you get to Modesto with the rifle, Paul at Barnwood Arms (Ripon) will look at it.

I have a venture in .308 and have come to find out it is very picky of what ammo its being fed. My first try i used some tulammo. Hell no that didnt work. Stuck casing and hard as hell to pull out. I had to strike the bolt open to free the casing. Next I tried some magtech, nope same thing. So then I got some match hornady and she fired like a dream, figures huh. Took a chance on some federal and still cycles flawlessly. Ive come to the conclusion that the venture has very tight tolerances, and you need to find the right ammo. 1/2" moa out of the box has its downfalls i guess.
