do you have a BATFE letter for that lower ? you say you recently bought it so i would say its a no go without a letter as currently BATFE considers any alteration of the FCG a nono for non-gun(80%)...
put a upper on that and its a single shot its a gun not a 80%Last edited by Jeepers; 01-10-2013, 9:17 PM.Originally posted by Ronald ReaganBefore I refuse to take your questions, I have an opening statement.Comment

Good catch I didn't really look at the pictures. I take retract my previous statement, that isn't a 80% lower.Comment

ok so other than all the somewhat bashing on me for paying too much can anyone at least help with the other 90 percent of my post?Comment

you dont even want to try to do a magwell as your first AR build it is usually broached out not machined , you can sell it but not as a 80% it must have your info engraved on it and sold threw a FFL just like it should have been done to you , its not a 80% its a firearm .....Originally posted by Ronald ReaganBefore I refuse to take your questions, I have an opening statement.Comment

yeah im going to do that after all. dont really feel like going to prison anytime soon. I actually have enough spare parts from other builds, this is just literally the very first time i have ever messed around with an 80% but one of my main questions is can i use one of my 16" barrels and a stock i have? im kinda confused on that end of the legalities. i am trying to find a thread to answer this stuff but even the atf website left me less than 100% positive i wont end up in hot waterComment

you could build it as a pistol with no stock , or a rifle with stock , or start as a pistol convert to rifle and in anystate other then CA convert back to pistol(cali law does not allow for pistol to rifle back to pistol) but magwell will need to be broached, milled or EDM.... or as is into a Single Shot like the pic above just find a .50 DTC upper for it as a long range toyyeah im going to do that after all. dont really feel like going to prison anytime soon. That is not a 80% I repeat, NOT A 80%..... That is a single shot lower receiver. An 80% requires mill work to be done in order to be able to fire a bullet, with what you have only requires a lower parts kit and a upper receiver to fire a bullet. Who ever sold you that receiver has absolutely no clue what they are doing and if you bought it from a gun show, I'm surprised that vendor didn't get busted for selling a functionable lower receiver with no background check or paper work. You should have done some research before you bought that, and as for selling it if you so choose to do you better do some more research and go through a ffl. I dont care jow much you paid for it.I will repeat it one more time, that is NOT A 80% LOWER RECIEVERYou kick a donkey enough and it will bite you. Yep its on the net look it up.Comment
