    EFK Firedragon?

Any one have any experience with EFK Firedragon? I'm interested in ordering a 9mm conversion (interchangeable) barrel for my .40 Sig Pro.

    Thanks,

I got their 5" ported 357 sig conversion for a 4" Springfield XD 40. It dropped right in without any file to fit needed. Have shot several hundred rounds accurate and reliable. However, You may need a different recoil spring and magazine to go 40 to 9.

Alpha, thanks for the input. I was worried about their reliability, but can't find much info on the net, it seems like most folks have Barsto barrels. Unfortunately Barsto stopped producing the Sig Pro barrels. On the bright side, from what I've read, it appears that the .357/.40 mags will function just fine with 9mm (plus they hold 13 rounds ). You're right about the recoil spring though, thanks for pointing it out, I didn't even think about it.

I have one for a Sig P220 and for a Springfield XD45. Both dropped right in and work fine.

I've been wanting to do a little more side by side comparison between the stock barrels and the EFKs to compare accuracy and felt recoil, but I've done it yet.
If you know how many guns you have... you don't have enough guns.

People need to remember that the same guys who wrote the 1st Amendment, also wrote the 2nd Amendment... and for the same exact reasons.

I purchased one for my USP 45. It dropped right in, and rattled around like a pissed off diamond back. When I took it to the range, my previously almost match grade USP was shooting 9 inch groups at 25 yards from a pistol rest. I noticed some gouging in the barrell about 1/4 inch from the crown. Not sure if it was the looseness of the barrel or the gouging that caused the problem but I sent the barrel back to them. It has been almost a month and I have not heard from them yet. Hopefully I will get a replacement barrel, and hopefully it will shoot straight. Right now I'm not really hopeful of both occurring. I'll be glad to post an update if and when I get a good shooter back. One problem is that they state that they will NOT give a money back guarantee, so either way I'm out $200.

My advice is to get a barrel from someone else. If I had it to do over again, I'd buy another HK barrel.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that, that sounds horrible. I'm glad I started this thread before I purchased one of their barrels. Please post an update when/if you receive a replacement. I'm sure there'll be many others interested in the results.
As for EFK not offering a money back guarantee, that just seems to be a very bad business strategy, not suitable for a extremely customer service oriented industry/hobby such as ours. A bad, or the lack of, warranty is often indicative of a bad quality product or "fly by night" operation. Still, since EFK is the only company left manufacturing Sig Pro 9mm conversions , I have to confess that I'm still interested. Hopefully they'll rectify your problem without any further heart ache.

Thanks for the replies, they're very helpful. I hope others will chime-in with their experiences.

I bought a ported EFK barrel for my 1911. Dropped in and fit almost perfect, a bit heavier contact on one of the feet, but the rest was very nice. (Springfield slide) And with a small amount of stoning would have been about as good as if I had done the whole job by hand. BUT the inside of the bore looked like it had been machined by a drunken weasel. Out side was beautiful so I'm going to say it was a bad EDM tool, or jig problem in the bore machining. I sent it back to them, and they promptly turned it around and sent me a new barrel and 25$ in EFK gift certificates. However this barrel has a smaller outer diameter at the muzzle and fits fairly loose in the bushing so I've never bothered to shoot it.
(shameless plug here- anyone looking for one of these who's willing to fit a bushing to their gun send me a pm. I'm just going to leave the gun with a standard length non-ported barrel)
