Good question....hadn't thought about that.

54r used a few different weight bullets with the light and heavy ball. WW2 subguns in the Tokarev pistol caliber used lighter ammo, don't know how this affected accuracy or if it was that much of an issue when fighting Germans at close range.

What is the standard weight of a X39 projectile, and/or the range of weights used?

The Bannerman Mosins were altered for .30-06 or other various rounds that were popular in the 1920's-1930's era.

New barrels can already be imported as repair parts. The kits can't be imported (actually sold) with intact barrels.
If you really want to play, come up with 500K- 1 million$ then let me know. I'll put you in touch with someone.

If you have a mill and lathe and don't put a dollar value on your time at the machine, it might be good for a one off. But once you scale it up to a commercial level of production, you would flood the market with so many spare mosin parts, you simply wouldn't be able to sell any so your barrel goes from free to 80 bucks. Add the cost of machining and then need to retail mark up and you just couoldnt make it.

But if I ever get a lathe and mill and a shovel, I just might use your idea.
