Replacing the ejector rail on an AK47

I need to replace the ejector rail on an AK47. Is there a easy way to replace the ejector rail without damaging or building a new receiver? Any help is appriciated.

      Dumb question

What is the problem with this one??? How is it attached to receiver box screwed on - welded / rosette / spot electric / spot welded on inside of receiver.

Specifack problem - ejection problem - timing problem - bent - worn - too soft - too short/long - cracked - broken off????

Good and use a quality welding rodd with good purity rating - like 4130 steel material or better. Not coat hangers or cheap copper coated rodddds.

Can you even remove the ejector rail without destroying the receiver? They're spot welded on, and spot welds usually need to be drilled out using a spot weld cutter (looks like an endmill). You can try and chisel the rail off, but since the receiver is only 1mm thick, you run the risk of tearing a chunk of metal out with the rail.

I'm with motorhead. Weld and reshape.

Yeah the rail looks like they can snap off, but they aren't going anywhere. I tried on a damaged receiver I buuilt a while ago and no good. guess adding to the ejector is the best way.

If you get desperate enough to drive to Sacramento I'd be willing to weld it up for you.

As this seems to be a problem lately, I will be doing a tutorial soon on how to remove and replace the left side ejector rail. With lots of pics.
