So I just finished restoring a 1947 Remington 580 for a friend of mine and kind of hit a wall. I have everything assembled but I can not figure out where the part in the attached picture goes. My buddy brought it to me in pieces a month ago and he can't remember were it goes. I have this schematic http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufact.../580-39539.htm to go off of but I cant find the part anywhere on it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Remington 580 help

I had a Remington 580 series apart recently, because the lubrication had turned to gum, freezing up the trigger completely.
Going by memory, I believe the parts you have there are the safety detent (53), and the safety detent spring (54). -
Thats what it was, took it apart after i posted this again and found it, thanksComment

If you have a 1947 580, it is one rare bird!!
They were introduced in 1967!
Glad you got it together.Comment
