My daughter got one from Palmetto State Armory for $15 on sale. It came with a hammer too. I think the regular price is $20. Still pretty good price.
It did have some rust on it, but nothing a lil arm & hammer couldnt fix.

Buy a set of Starretts and you'll never be sorry...I've had bad luck with cheap punch sets.Laws against murder and attempted murder should have been the only gun control laws ever needed in America...Comment

Good and cheap are counterproductive when you're purchasing tools.
I'd recommend Starrett and/or anything else from Brownells. Midway is usually sketchy at best as to country of origin. If you're counting pennies as to tools for working on your weapons, stop by or go online and get whatever Harbor Freight offers.

Why not go and buy these local? My Craftsman set has done everything i have asked it to do, and as a bonus if you mushroom, crack or break the tip off you can go exchange it for a new one.Comment

Maybe he's not looking for a "roll pin" punch set?Why not go and buy these local? My Craftsman set has done everything i have asked it to do, and as a bonus if you mushroom, crack or break the tip off you can go exchange it for a new one.
But in general I agree, Craftsman is pretty good quality for the money.Comment

I got the roll pin punches from Brownells, also got the roll pin holders & bolt catch pin punch. I have assembled several lowers using these and like them. The roll pin holders & bolt catch pin punch are not necessarily needed - but they do make things alot smoother.
For a full AR tool kit just get these punches, an AR multitool/armorers wrench (gunshow or Brownells), Torque wrench (HF), split ring pliers (HF), and a small brass & plastic hammer (HF). I added some small files (HF) and 320 grit sandpaper as I have needed to do some minor fitting on occasion. I assembled mine for under $100 including the box it goes in (also HF).
If you just want a good punch set for general use, you will be using it alot, and want it to last, then yes - Starretts.Comment
