    PARKER & HALE FEED PROBLEMS

I have an older Parker and Hale 22-250 with feeding problems (photos attached) i bought. When you go to insert a shell into the chamber, sometimes it will "fall" out of the grasp of the bolt, or it will jamb between the magazine and the bolt. If you load the cartridges towards the front of the magazine well, it doesn't do it often.
Does anyone know how to fix this. New magazine follower?? Problem with the bolt itself??

Sometimes one needs a spacer block installed. I had to install one on my short actioned (Yugo length) Mauser build in 22/250. So, I installed this feed kit from Numrich and it cured my problem.

You should check how the extractor holds the cartridge. Remove the bolt, twist the extractor to line up with the right hand lug. Insert a fired cartridge under the extractor. The extractor should firmly hold the cartridge. So firmly that the extractor actually moves approx. .004".

If I'm not mistaken, Parker Hale actions were of the controlled feed type, meaning that all rounds feed from the magazine and the cartridge's extractor groove slides under the extractor as the bolt strips the top cartridge from the magazine. Attempting to put a round in the chamber and close the bolt on this kind of an action will result in the bolt failing to extract the round.

If the magazine is too long, a spacer, as suggested, may be needed to align the cartridges properly.

If this doesn't solve your extraction problems have a qualified gunsmith check the rifle's extractor and bolt assembly.
