where did you get that from? that isn't machined to the current ATF specs and could easilily be considered a firearm already, not a 80%.

no, AFAIK, there is nobody offering a jig to do the magwell since all the major 80% players machine out the magwell and leave you the fire control pocket to mill out.

Generally most people don't get that version of an 80%.

The mag is very difficult to do without the right tools. They are usually wire EDM cut or broached.

As was mentioned above, cutting the magwell is probably the single most difficult part of the process. The only way I can think of doing it is to have it EDM cut, but unfortunately, that's gong to be very expensive.

Well, so far, the only lowers that have a letter of designation from the ATF (which means they are NOT firearms) are from such places as Quentin Defense, Tactical Machine, and a few others.

All of the above mentioned lowers have the magwell cut and not the fire control pocket, this is what the ATF has decided qualifies the lower as a NON firearm.

That being said, if you have no letter of designation from the ATF or the means to get be from the manufacturer for this particular lower, it could very well be considered a firearm, and therefore purchased illegally. Probably less of an issue for you since you could just plead ignorance, but could be serious problems for the manufacturer.

based on the current ATF opinion letters, if there is any machining done in the the fire control pocket area, ATF considers that to be a firearm that must be sold just like any other 100% complete firearm, meaning that it must be sold by an FFL with a 4473 fillled out and the background check down via the DROS process.

I saw in another thread that you were looking into 80% build parties. basically, you are going to need to buy a different 80% lower, one that has the magwell milled out and the FCP untouched, to be able to finish that at most of the build parties being hosted.
