    Camo Skin

    Greeting Gents & Ladies

This is my first post to this forum.

I'm interested in putting a camo water dip hydroskin (not sure of the correct term) onto a rifle and was wondering if you may be able to answer a few questions?

If you apply these water skins to barrel. Will they burn off at a certain temperature? Not planning to shoot a whole bunch of rounds at once. Just curious.

How tough are they? Do they hold up well or tear and scratch easily? If they tear easily can they be protected with clear duracoat?

    Any recommendations on any brands?

Any Do's and Don't when applying?

Anyone in California that does this professionally?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Basically hydrographics are just printed on in lay terms ...... it is only as durable as the base coat it is printed on and the top coat sprayed on it.

If you put Cerakote clear coat on certain hydrographics (not all are compatible with Cerakote) it would be very durable and scratch resistant.

Will they change color after high temps on the barrel?

Cerakote Clear is a Air Dry paint not needing heat cure to dry.

Hydrograhics made to be applied to Cerakote base coat normally go onto the Cerakote after it is cured. Then a clear top coat is applied to protect the image.

Once again Cerakote Clear, named Cerakote Micro Clear or MC Series, is Air Dry and does not need heat to cure.

I understand cerakot. Question is will the hydrographics hold up to high heat without changing color.

Most Hydro graphics will end up changing color with high heat from rapid fire causing the barrel to heat up.

I suggest to people to not coat the barrel with hydro graphic on semi auto weapons. Most bolt action weapons will not heat the barrel enough to actualy affect the hydro coating but to be safe I just suggest a simliar color in duracoat for the barrel. Hydro dip everything else and you should be good.

There is a company I work with to get some of my products dipped. PM me for info and please describe what you are looking for and in what pattern.

Krylon it, when it wears, touch it up. Run it like you stole it.
