    Sar2 Conversion to Krinkov

We took a SAR-2 and used it as a donor for a 1986 Tula AK74U build.
We wanted to reuse the original scope rail so we used the original rear trunnion rivet locations in the new trunnion. Interesting thing on this kit the gas block was partially drilled.

Beware the leader who bangs the drums of crises and patriotism...it emboldens the blood and narrows the mind. When the drums have reached a fever pitch...the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry...rather, in...fused with fear, they will offer up all of their rights...and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. (Julius Caesar)

Looks good but what happens when that starts to key hole because you chopped down a 16" 1 in 8 twist barrel instead of using a 1 in 6 krink spec barrel?
I did the same thing using a Saiga for the donor gun. Kept the barrel at 16" but reprofiled it to fit the parts.

Russian / Bulgarian are 1/7 not 1/6. I have built over 40 tula Kits using
            Bulgarian 74
            Blue Jack V1 to current
            US 74
            Krebs 16 & 8 inch barrels
            Saiga 5.45 as donors

I have had 1 krebs barrel keyhole as of yet.

Let me ask you this how many 5.45 16" barrels have YOU personally cut crowned shot and then found a key hole issue?

I also have read and talked to individuals that new the guy that had a friend that had a keyhole issue. I build them every day and have had the one from a krebs barrel. So I speak from personal experience and not from internet chatter.

Oh here is a little gift I did for a buddy

LK-09 7.5" US 5.45 Cut and Crowned Built on a flat ZERO keyhole. Experience vs. Chatter

Personally i've only chopped 5.45 barrels to 12.5" and they didn't keyhole. I had one guy bring his gun in that did keyhole and that was a bulgy barrel and was chopped. I installed a bluejack barrel and it was GTG. You have me beat with the Tulas, i've maybe 25-30 under my belt between the 2 shops I worked for.

Reminds me of this gun I built for my stepfather. Built from parts I had, laying around, a flat, and an old 5.45 barrel. I made the fake can and the top cover hinge and bracket.
Can't do the SBR thing in CA though.
