    Sten question

Would a sten fitted with a pistol grip and no stock be classified as a pistol or SBR?

    Sten is home-built.

Needs a magazine lock and barrel less than 16" to qualify as pistol. Also I believe you would have to build it as a single shot exempt pistol first, then convert to 10rd.

So no stock and barrel under 16 is GTG?

With 10 round limit mag with a mag lock. All Cali AW laws apply.
Semi auto tube and bolt etc..
Built as a pistol first of course using <16" barrel.

Can't see your location on my phone. If out of state I assume you are just trying to avoid AOW status. Which I am not totally savy on. Seems like without a stock is the big deal since you are talking about a rifled barrel semi-auto pistol.

Build it as a functioning pistol without welding in the mag well first (single shot).

Then weld in the mag well with appropriate bullet button device and 10 round mag. Oh wait.. in NV disregard the last sentence.

If you dont put the stock on it would be a pistol. Even if you put a 16 inch barrel it would not be a rifle. It would be a Title 1 long gun. And since your in Nevada you can build it however you want with a bullet button or making it single shot.

There are several pistol builds on the weaponsguild. I believe the back of the receiver and the pistol grip were modified, so a rifle stock could not be fitted with out significant work. Both were 8" barrels. As long as you never make it a rifle you should have no issues as a pistol.

Both build used the "para" pistol grips.
