    High Standard 1911

I'm thinking about a bone stock High Standard 1911 and if it's worth putting a little money into it because I may get it cheap.

I would change to beavertail safety, extended safety, new trigger, hammer, sear, and have the slide milled for combat sights. Also, whatever small parts that may enhance operation.

After purchase, budget to be $250 to $400 tops.

    Worth it?

If you go with a good 1911 smith parts+labor well over your $400.00 budget and wait time.

Take a look at a 1911 smithing book. If you think you can DIY go for it! Better than trying with a 1200 dollar 1911 right?

Some questions you need to ask yourself:
What is the grip safety radius?
What size dovetail needs to be milled into the slide for combat sights
Are you going to use a mated trigger, hammer, sear and disconnect or attempt to fit them DIY?
Might want to think about buying the following:
        Jerry Kuhnhausen' 1911 shop manual
