Has Anyone built a VZ58

I see these kits, for $50-60. However, I do not see receivers for sale, except on weaponeer.net, nor do I see compliance parts kits etc. etc.

I was wondering if anyone has built one of these and where they got the parts (group buys?) and how they made it cali legal?

military gun supply or centerfire has receivers. they are pricey.

once the AK kits dry up i think the vz58s are going to go up in price also. I'm going to buy my kit now and then wait for the price to go down on the recievers.

Yes, $300-$400 is a little too much for a receiver.

Interesting though, they are shipping these in, brand new, fully assembled, straight from the Czech Republic now. I wonder if they would ship to Cali?

You think $400 is too much for a receiver but you're willing to spend $900+transfer & DROS on a completed rifle? You can build it for $600.

I've been looking around all night at the cost of one of these builds.

Kit $70 centerfire
VZ58 receiver : $400
Dros on receiver : 70
Compliance parts : Weaponeer is out. I can not find anyone else that has them Every google I do leads back to weaponeer. They were going for $160 which included a barrel extension.

So with out any other considerations (tools etc) this is already. Apparantly pressing that barrel in is much more a problem then the AK stamped reciever.

interesting. i didn't think military semi-autos were importable. noticed no one bid on it. ca would depend on list status and importer's attitude towards ca.
rguns has these too. sold with butthole stock as sporters.

the guy with those rifles is a cool dude. i baught 3 rra lowers from him and he ships to cal all the time. it wouldnt hurt to call phil and ask if he would remove the grip so you could receive it. im sure he would.

That's good info. I wasn't really planning on buying one, but seeing how the cost of buying or getting a kit is a wash, it is probably better to buy one. A little too pricey for me though. I think I will build an AK instead.
