    Questions for scope rail

I recently bought a savage 10fp .308 and I bought a short action rem 700 picatiny rail thinking it would fit the savage 10 as well. It holes dont line up.. so my question is, what rail do I need to get?

umm... one marked as being for the Savage 10fp, most manufacturers will annotate which rails are for what receivers. Badger Ordnance, EGW, Leupold, plenty I'm sure. I have a Badger on mine.

You have to use savage accessories on savage guns.

Remington, winchester, savage, tikka and howa all use parts that are specific to their brand and model.

Don't plan on ANY remington 700 parts working on your savage.

Now here is a rail that should work:

Most work done while you wait on a scheduled shop visit.

Savage has used a couple of basic "lengths" long action and short action are the basics. Short has a couple of variants. Measure the distance between holes and note the shape of the rear of the action. Look on the EGW web site get one of their rails.

Just get better screws for it because so many people have problems with the EGW screws stripping out...

I have had no problems with small screws stripping. Maybe stop before they strip.

I have not either, but 9/10 jobs that come into my shop with stripped scope base screws are EGW bases and screws.

              That's what I call a pattern...

If I recall, they use an allen socket screw instead of a torx socket screw like everyone else.

Get a nice Farrell base for your 10fp.
