Blueprints for a respectable solid AK bend jig?

I plan on organizing a Central Coast build and would like to build a solid, ak builder type jig. I have access to lots of MS, SST, Aluminum, and titanium(u jelly?) to do what it takes to build it. I have access to several vertical mills, lathes, and a surface grinder. I was hoping someone would have the prints in there personal collection or have a file with them. I don't want to build the poor man's type jig because I already have nice material available to me and don't want to waste my time with a lesser jig. (arrogant, i know.)

I would like to ideally makie it out of mild square stock, any opinions?

Before you say "google it, @!#H#$E" I already did it and have come up with numerous posts claiming to have the specs, but instead send me a link to the complete bent flat instead of the jig... which makes me mad!

i would assume get a piece of steel stock that its as wide as the trunnions for the center press.then get some L bar give yourself 1mm or so gap between the center press and side walls a little welding and fitting then wasting a flat or to to see if your close that would be my thoughts on it> also what part of the central coast?im in santa cruz county id be up for a build

Livin da high life straight up in NIPAS! REPRESENT!

        lol

I live in Nipomo and know an active cgner friend and a few friends who would be interested. A few people from work too might jump in. If we did the build, it would probably be in my garage or my friend's shop. I'm just trying to get the tooling ready.

you can buy one from ryaninsd or something like that hes in the commercial sale section his jigs look good to meid buy one if i didnt just have one build.and for only 80 bucks or so thats not too shabby you and five freinds throw in 20$ bucks each and there you have a jig.or spend time and money building a jig that might not work for over 80$?

i am in no way affiliated with the seller just thought i'd give him a shout out.

I have seen that and if my plan doesn't work out, a calgunner offered to loan me an ak-builder jig.

Let me tell you and take this from a guy that built his own copy of the AK builder Jig. Don't waste your time.
This thing took a day to hog out and half of another ti finish the inside of the die. The plug took a full day and a half to weld and finish machine to size and clearance for the mag demples.

Save you're self the frustration and just pony up the $169 looking back it's cheep considering the time i spent building mine.

Before you ask I have no prints on mine. I built it on the fly.

I bought a flat and installed my dowel pins as needed. it's bent a bunch of flats and has yet to foul one up.

This is what I started with.
                    A solid block of 4140

Lots of machining, dulled an endmill and burn a lot of coolant

So you go right ahead a make your own but you're going to regret it.
Not that is said based on if you have the means to pay for it even with saving up for it.
If you just cant do it. Then sure go for it.

Well the reason I want to is I have access to the material for free. One question, does it have to be that huge?

Well I went a little over kill on the bolt sizes but yeah it has to be that huge. You are bending a .039" thick piece of tool steel around 10"-11" long that takes a lot of tonnage and the base is taking all of that force. This isn't mild steel.

My jig is not very much larger side by side then the AK builder jig.

Material cost is the least of your worries. You need to cut a stepped slot in a chunk of steel 12" long about an inch deep a 1.250" wide. The stepped slot needs to be square and parallel within .001" and you need to have about .002" clearance on the die. All that needs to be done while maintaining a very high surface finish so it doesn't mar the receiver as it's being pressed.

So yeah it needs to be that huge if you want it to last. Mine is built to make weapons after the next civilization take over.

Lol " next civilization take over" i like that. Kcstott is right. It's not a simple slap tap and go thing to do. I'd say if you want a project, get one of the many ak blueprints out there and you can easily design the die. Just remember the flats are 4130, mild steel won't respond well. Titanium?! Can you cut it? If so let's talk about other projects. And remember Its nipOmo not nipomo!

Yari what the hell do what made from Ti. I have a few pieces laying around here but hate cutting it. It's a pain Unless you have a bunch of money dumped into insert cutters and flood coolant.

Yeah. I've got lots of titanium, but I don't want to use it for the jig. I want to use to make custom muzzle brakes.

lol Its not nipomo, ITS nipOmo commercials swap meet, you know those? Where do you live?
