    wolff ar15 extractor spring install

So I'm trying to install this Wolff extractor spring but no matter how hard I press down or how hard I grip my pliers I can't seem to move the pin all the way through. It goes through without the spring. You guys have any trouble with this?

Are we talking about the pin on the bolt that needs to be removed in order to get to the extractor spring?

Don’t use pliers first off, ur just going to mar / scuff up the pin and make things worse... Use a brass punch set and a small brass hammer.

Have you tried removing it in the opposite direction?

    Mine comes out pretty easy...

The pin was easy to remove. I'm talking about putting the pin back in after putting in this new spring. It's impossible.

Ya, I had to fidget with mine quite a bit on one of my newer BCG... Try using a brass punch as a guide.. slightly smaller in size. If you don't have one on hand the chuck side of a drill bit works too.

I know how you feel, I was getting pissed off with mine as well.

My Stag BCG comes in and out real easy... guess it might be a higher round count, but it never really gave me any problems.

Why change it? I seriously doubt Wolff has done 1/1000th the design and real world testing of the original spec one. They just sell springs.
In over 40 years of competitive and recreational shooting, I have never seen an aftermarket spring in any gun work better than the original, and in most cases the aftermarket spring brings on it's own set of problems. Like the one you are having now.

Back to your question, if you have to fight it, something is wrong. Will the pin fit freely without the spring in place? If it does, the spring is the problem.
