Hi. Like the title says im looking at a complete uzi kit with a saw cut receiver. It is 100% complete kit and im gonna do a reweld of the receiver. I have 2 questions. What do i need to make it legal semi auto pistol and can a rewelded receiver be used as a pistol since it has been demilled and is no longer a firearm?

It is my understanding that to make it a pistol i just need a semi bolt. Stopping bar. Modified sear. And weld a piece in the trigger housing to stop the selector switch from going fa. Am i missing something? -
probably need a semi bolt and trigger group i dont see a problem rewelding the reiever as long as it cant except fa parts but i know nothingComment

What about modifing the top cover? Cant i use the recoil spring that comes with it? So using a reweld as a pistol is cool?Comment

I wouldn't even bother rewelding a receiver. I believe you would have to install a denial island/tab or even possibly reduce the inside dimensions of the receiver. Here are some sources I think you will find useful.
Receiver and semi bolt assembly (Don't bother with a reweld)
Barrels.
Info on which barrel to get.
Magblock
If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions.

blocker bar for bolt,S/A bolt and striker, barrel ,blocker bar for FCG, S/A modified sear, remove ratchet from top cover and then comes the AW issue of fwd handgrip i lean to the mag locked 10rd side even with the plastic removed....
check D&D sales they have everything but the repair section and they can be found on GB for 100 ......
oh ya also will need feedramp sling swivel and rivet pistol grip lug and hand guard lug again see D&DLast edited by Jeepers; 08-20-2012, 12:21 AM.Originally posted by Ronald ReaganBefore I refuse to take your questions, I have an opening statement.Comment

That is perfectly fine.
Like I said earlier you only need a blocking bar that only allows a semi auto bolt. Go ahead and do the reweld. You cant get that receiver if you are going to make a pistol. Well you can but have to jump through some hoops.
Just Like I said but D&D is almost always out of everything. You probably won't need all the little pieces if you are doing a reweld. those are for new receivers. And if you decide to use the handgrips you need a 10 round mag and a mag lock. otherwise leave them off and use all the hi cap mags that you found in a box in your attic.blocker bar for bolt,S/A bolt and striker, barrel ,blocker bar for FCG, S/A modified sear, remove ratchet from top cover and then comes the AW issue of fwd handgrip i lean to the mag locked 10rd side even with the plastic removed....

Thanks for all the info guys. It does come with a saw cut receiver section that is ready to be welded in. So i can run this thing with no bullet button as long as i have the handguards off right?Comment

Sorry about the bullet button question i just found my answer in the previous post.Comment

guess it depends on the reweld i am going this route and only useing the orig trunnion and back end and this repair section comes with the blocker bar

and demilling the lil bits from a parts kit is alot more work then say a AK demil , most folks will prefur to just buy the new parts , im cheap so i am saving as much as i can but will still need to buy the sling swivel front grip lug and feed ramp .......
i see ppl complaining about having to drill out a few rivets on AK builds
now its my turn to whine but not about a AK try demilling a grip lug on a Uzi

what a PITA but thats 1/2 the fun ....why buy new when it can be demilled
... getting the center section between the legs out was the fun part ...lol
Oh ya i had to pop that rivet also for the ejector , but that was easy peasy ....lol

i was going to use a flat and just cut off the trunnion area and bend it like the repair section and reweld from there but i am also a lil lazy so i just bought one already bent ..... lol
and you have plenty of time to catch up im broke and still saving cash for parts to build as a 45acp pistol, that then will be converted to carbine ..... i want to document a pistol build first so if i ever move out of state i will still be able to convert back and forth (i know cali law days its a no no , but feds say its ok )Originally posted by Ronald ReaganBefore I refuse to take your questions, I have an opening statement.Comment
