    "Timing" Flash hider

I have this Flash Hider here>>

"This 5 port design has no downward facing port"

The Flash Hider came with this standard Crush Washer>>

If I hand tighten the FH, the "downward port" of the FH stops exactly at 6 o'clock. If I torque down the FH, the "downward port" will be at the 9 o'clock position.

Went to the Costa Mesa gunshow today and bought me the old style crush washer. The one where it is "cut" on one side and bent uneven. SAME RESULT AS ABOVE. After torquing down the FH.. the "downward facing port" is facing 9 o'clock.

    Any recommendations?????

Shim the flash hider and to get back to 6 o'clock you are going to need an .008" to .010" shim.
Other then that, A very specific amount needs to be removed from the flash hider to allow it to index properly. .026" should do it. but it needs to be precise and dead square.

Well, kinda solved the problem temporarily til I put an order in for shims / peel washers.

Found a old/used crusher washer in my parts bin. Installed that along with a New washer.
Hand tight: Flat spot on FH timed at 1 o'clock. Torqued down to 6 o'clock.

Will test fire my new upper in 2 weeks. Hopefully my FH will stay put.

          Thanks everyone for their input.
