I hate to be "that guy" but your best low cost/as good bet is a build party. If it's all #'s matching it's really hard to mess up. There are many many people around you with the skill and tools to build your rifle to it's best. Sell your nds and bend your own. We can help.Comment

Contact Roccobro (located in San Bernardino) and get on the list for the next monthly AK BP. Bend your own and rivet 'er up. It usually takes a few visits (he is open most Friday's, schedule some time) that between the formal BPs and the informal Friday's you can get a lot done.

Build one rifle on each of 1) Buildparty folded flat 2) NDS receiver. I agree there is no reason to sell it, but it's just that much more satisfying to do your own and you'll know the ejector length will be right because it will be you trimming it. NDS has had its share of too short ejectors and while yours may be fine, there are no guarantees. If it's too short, Roccobro has chrome-moly (4100 series) weld rod to build it back up again that will have matching carbon content to what is there for when you reharden and temper the tip.
If you build on a flat, we can get that flat heat treated too. There is no magic in the process. NDS receivers are the same AISI 4130 alloy as AK Builders and once quenched and tempered to a final hardness of 40-42 HRC will be all but identical. I've done six that way and they turn out just fine.

One I don't think he has the NDS receiver yet. He mentioned to me he has it ordered but it's back ordered.
Two While chrome moly rod is nice to have it is not necessary. ER70S6 is fine.
The way this stuff gets heat treated it matters very little what the composition of the welding rod is. And a small bead will pick up enough carbon from the base metal to work just fine. And if welded correctly it will only require drawing it back. As the weld will nearly always be harder then the base metal.
Now if you are trying to fill something in and you need the color of the bluing tho match then by all means use the filler that is as close to the base metal as possible.
Keep in mind 4140 is a low carbon steel. at .40%
The only difference between 4140 and 1018 is a slightly higher carbon content with the addition of chromium and molybdenum. But without those last two elements usually equalling less then 1.5% combined of the total alloy takes a piece of junk steel and allows it to hold back 90,000 + PSI safely time and time again less then three inches from your face.Comment
