Gunsmith recommendation for refinish

Hi I'm in Irvine and I'm looking for a good gunsmith to redo the finish of my TRP in black diamond... any recommendation?

No its a type of coating .... but if it is the black diamond coating I am thinking of no Gunsmith I know in the US does it .... you have to send it to the original manufacturer.

That type of Black Diamond coating is a pure ceramic type coating (not the ceracoat painted ones or even powder coated ones) that needs heat and the use of a special microwaving process to apply it to the surface.

It is super hard and very thin coat and only diamonds would be hard enough to scratch it.

Ohh did I forget to mention it is somewhat expensive?

So if only diamonds can scratch it why does it need to be refinished? Just wondering here.

Well like I said there is no gunsmith or firearms dealer that does it in the US ..... there is gunsmiths and dealers that OFFER the service ... but they send it to the original manufacturer ( approx 8 in the US that do it) of the coating to be done (then mark it up).

The coating is called a DLC ( Diamond Like Carbon ) and not only can it be applied to metal it also can be applied to plastics as well (imagine no more scratched Glock frames).

I am currently setting something up with one company but we still months away from a deal and they still have to get a FFL so they can take frames/receiver legally. There was a company that used the IONBOND brand DLC but they closed their custom shop.
