Help fix my S&W Sigma?

Hi all, I was fondling my Sigma .40 and the recoil spring retainer(? the plastic tube that the spring goes around) popped through the front of the slide assembly. Now I cannot get the pistol apart For those not familiar with the Sigma it is basically a Glock clone from what I have read.. Anywho I can't really afford to get it fixed right now so if there is a trick or any suggestions they would be much appreciated.

I've got the same pistol, I'm very familiar with it.

If the guide rod has come through the front of the slide, then most likely what has happened is the guide rod flange has broken or bent. (it's plastic)

If it were my pistol, I'd get a pair of snips and cut the plastic guide rod, and spring assembly and pull it out. Then order a new one from Midway.

So clipping the rod will allow the slide to release?

I have had a friend put the guide rod in backwards and put the slide back on. I cut the end of the guide rod off very carefully with a dremel cutoff wheel which relieved the tension. I was able to fish the spring out the front and pull the slide off.

I fixed it, some needle noses and a little pushing and pulling and the slide came back off. Still going to replace the guide though because there is some wear. thanks all
