    WTMake 5.45 Mauser

Looking for some bolt gun information.

I bought a barrel blank in 5.45 that is NOT chambered. I need to head space and cut threads.

What I don't know about is the different bolts or bolt faces that are available to use since the case diameter will be different.

I still want to be able to use the magazine as well.

Do people buy already made bolt w/ working extractors going from 8mm down to .223 or 5.45mm ???

OR will I have to modify an 8mm bolt face and make an extractor?

    Any insight is appreciated.

I recently built up a 7.62x39 bolt gun on a Mauser action and Kreiger barrel that is unusually accurate 3/8 MOA out to 600 yards. see my posts "How to toss a football"

You will have to weld up/machine/reduce the diameter of the bolt face. Kendog 4570 and abe can help you out with this.

You will have to dremel grind the extractor VERY CAREFULLY to capture cartridge.

You will have to make a bolt throw reduction spacer to shorten stroke 1 1/8"

You will have to make and cartridge ejector to eject cartridges to match bolt throw reduction spacer.

Czechoslovakian VZ24, Krieger 26" .308 bore 1x10" twist, chambered in 7.62x39mm Lapua., adapted Romanian single stack mags to trigger guard with AK latch, feeds smooth as silk with mags.

All the work that 6mm stated.
Plus a block in the magazine. The bolt stop and ejector is going to be the difficult part. getting those locations correct is not easy for someone that has not attempted this before.
shortening the stroke on a mauser has always been a pet peeve of mine. I feel the stock extraction length should be left alone. and the magazine blocked in the front.

What would be nice is if you could find a Kurtz action and use it. But they are so rare and good ones extremely expensive that it would preclude the project.
