    CZ82 issue

Ok- I have a cz-82. It will not stay in SA after the first shot. It will allow SA after racking the slide, but not after that. The hammer rides the slide back to DA when fired.

I took the grips off and checked the following:
    1. The trigger bar returns fine and is not binding
    2. If I depress the trigger and manually rack the slide still holding the trigger- the hammer will ride back and not stay cocked. If I rack the slide and do not depress the trigger- it stays in SA with the hammer back.

All other functions are fine and it has never had any other issues.

Any thoughts or ideas how to remedy this issue will be appreciated.

Additional Info: Removed the slide- Haeavy brass markings on underside of slide, like it is riding heavily over the next round in the magazine.... Is this normal on these guns? Could this be an issue?

    Thanks- Chuck

Sell it, buy a new one. I had a trigger reset prob and couldn't find a smithy that would touch it.

Mine does the same thing (returns to DA after a shot). I believe it's a common issue. I've heard it could be as simple as a spring installed backwards or swapped with another one in the gun, but haven't looked into it too much.

          HskrVern,

I would really not like to sell it- just want to know what the problem is and how it can be remedied.

Not certain, but sounds like improper assembly as mentioned.

Have you had the gun awhile and it developed this symptom?

just got the weapon-- I am suspecting the auto safety spring. It looks like the one end is not tucked under the auto safety, yet I am finding frustratingly impossible to get it tucked back in... Going to have to find a gunsmith to hammer out the issue.

              Thanks for all the suggestions

Where did you purchase your CZ?

The design isn't very complicated, if you don't have the option of return to seller let us know, we can probably figure it out here.

One of my CZ-82s does the same thing. I've been told replacement springs will probably fix it.

I tossed it in the safe and it's on my deal-with -it -some-day list.

If anyone has real experience dealing with this problem I'd like to read about it too.

Don't get rid of your CZ's or give up, guys, there's a very simple solution! This is a well known smithing problem on an otherwise very fine firearm. Lots of folks have a lot of difficulty refitting that pesky spring.

It's the Sear Spring that's presses on Sear and up against Automatic Safety, inside Ejector. There's a very simple 'special tool' you can fabricate to make life much easier! The tool and method of use are described in this thread on the CZ Forum website:

Here's some more photo-detailed info on your full teardown and reassembly:

You've all got some great keepers there once you understand the best way to reassemble after a detail strip.

Yea sounds like a spring issue to me.

I would try Spirit 1's suggestions as a fix and if not replace the springs.
