    Dang, scratches my new gun

I was cleaning my new springfield XD9 with a rag but one of those useless copper brush bore cleaners I had at the bottm of my bag stuck to the rag and I scratched the side of it.

Is there any way to get this crap off, or has it scraped off the finish? The newness is over.

It was probably bronze and not copper. You can try some copper solvent to see if it comes off or if it has scratched the slide.

Other than that, it's just a bummer. I have a brand new 1911 that has never been fired with an idiot mark on it from dis-assembly.

little sweet 7.62 and a nylon brush. Usually it just takes a little oil and a nylon brush.

I marred my Sig 2022 on the first TRB drill because I forgot to remove my wedding ring

        :-/

I figured since my ring is tungsten that the finish was hosed but after a few minutes of polishing with the gun cloth, it came right out. You can't even tell now

Hey, the eraser idea worked really good . These weren't deep scratches, it looked like chalk marks on the slide, I wasn't sure if that meant the finish on the gun was scratched and I was seeing gray steel.

So I gave it a try, and viola it's bearly noticible now. So I guess the coating or metal like I read is porous or something.

            woohoo. Thanks

yeah my co worker has one. one day he didn't completely roll the window down and left about 1/4" up and at every stop light he would have his arm up on the windowsill and unknowingly tap the top of the glass to the beat of whatever song was playing. lets just say he needed a bandaid by the end of the day. lol.
