    Ruger mkiii Bolt Stuck

So I'm trying to field strip my mkiii for cleaning. Took out the bolt stop, and according to the youtube videos, the bolt should simply be pulled out. After pulling the bolt out about an inch, it gets stuck, and won't be pulled out any further. Any ideas?

I'm working with a used mkiii, which according to the owner has a volquartsen sear and a mkii disconnector so that the mags drop free.

    Thank in advance

Did you dry fire it before you took the backstrap / pin out?

The hammer may be in the wrong position and not allowing it to come out. It needs to be in the fully up uncocked position.

Did you forget to remove the magazine after dry firing it?

I agree, it sounds like the strut on the back side of the hammer is catching on the cross member in the main spring housing well. In other words, put in a magazine, pull the trigger, push the hammer forward, then with the gun pointed upwards in the air drop the magazine, and pull back on the slide. The hammer strut should not foul with the aforementioned part in the mainspring housing well.
