    AK reciever fix.. Need help!

    Hi everyone,
I had a snafu while converting my fixed stock to an underfolder style, now I need to replace the reciever. I was directed to this site by a gentleman at a gunshow recently, and after reading many of the threads am relieved to know I found the right place. My problem is I rushed the job and now the rear trunnion sits way to far forward so I have to completely replace it. To make it worse I no longer have any tools to use and was wondering if anyone could help a rookie out. Obviously I will pay for tool/ machine time and will do it myself under your guidance.

    Thank you, Dominic.

What exactly did you do wrong? You may not need to replace the receiver. Lets see some pictures. Also, updating your profile to include a location will make it easier to get help.

Sorry I'm not good with computers, I live in Dana point. My rifle is in transit, so I won't be able to put any pictures on. Long story short I used existing holes for the trunnion and it's about 1/4 in too far forward and I drilled giant holes to mount the stock. I've already ordered a new receiver for it and hardware as well. Tallest thanks very much!

Not hard to fix. Someone can plug weld the holes shut dor you and can redrill. Wont take to long. Theres alot od builders in state that can help u with this.

It's probably easier at this point to order another flat. The OP said he already drilled out the large holes for the UF mechanism so that would be alot of welding...

The 10 minutes of welding will be a lot easier and faster than demilling and reriveting on a new 100% receiver (like the op has already ordered) let alone manufacturing a whole new reciever from a flat.

Easier is not always better... Figure if he has everything welded up, he still has to correctly redrill all the holes and then possibly re-heat treat the FCG holes. Then there comes refinishing. Will the OP be parking or painting the gun. If parking, the welded section will probably not match or take the park as well. So... yeah, I think a correct underfolder flat, while maybe a little more work, will come out better fit & finish-wise. But ultimately it's up to the OP....

I'll offer to weld it if you accompany the tall guy up here.

Thank you Rocco, I'm just waiting on it to get here. My old man is sending it soon, so I'll let y'all know when it gets here and maybe we can set up a date to come up.
