Any uninformed LEO that wants to be a pain in the butt is going to do so regardless. If they don't believe what you're doing is legal, then carrying a butt load of "evidence" probably wont make the situation any better. The best thing you can do is to educate yourself(I know you already have) on the ins and outs of the legalities of what you're doing, and be prepared to calmly and clearly explain exactly how this works should you ever have to. Stop being paranoid.

More importantly when transporting firearms of any type, obey all traffic laws, and do your best to keep your gun cases hidden from view. That way you'll be less likely to be stopped at all, and with your guns low key in the trunk or some such the LEO won't have any reason to ask you stupid questions....also remember if they ask to search your vehicle, say "NO".

regarding serializing your firearms. Please read the sticky by hoffmang about homebuilt firearms and serial numbers etc. at the top of the gunsmithing section here.

I had an Leo check my home builds. I politely and calmly explained the process and laws I build my guns from. Leo are dealing w laws changing daily for them to know all the laws all the time is a big request. Most guys here are still learning laws about home builds. The officer I came into contact with thought the numbers on my trunnion were serial numbers. In the end he took some pictures and said if they arent legal expect a visit! I said ok fair enough. I had 4 of them with me. Stay legal, stay calm, if you seem nervous it's a flag that you're illegal.
