    tapco mag(faux bakelite)

remembered my calguns PW and thought you guys would like, i posted it over on the files.

i ordered some new ak mags to play around with and decided to order them in FDE and "dyed" them to the colors i wanted. i boiled water and half a bottle of orange RIT dye to end up with two like this

and after i finished them i went over them with an old paint i had mixed up to replicate the russian red look and went ahead and applied it leaving me with a dark finish that i didn't really like too much

so i sprayed it all down with brake cleaner and started over leaving me with two mags looking like this

now im not finished yet playing around with these magazines but im pretty happy with out these are coming out for just playing around with what i have on hand. let me know what you guys think?

Couldn't stop messing with these mags again, tried wipe on poly to make it really smooth. wasn't working so i stripped them again and diluted and mixed up more paint.

im much happier with how these are coming out now.

I like the fakelite..especially at real ones going for 50-75 bucks. Are they shipping these as build kits yet?

yes, just in light brown(FDE) and black. exile machine llc ships to CA for the same price as any other state.

Nice work! I look forward to seeing what else you come up with.
