Yugo Model 59 SKS Trigger Group Malfunction

(I posted this issue in a different thread and was referred here. Some respondents suggested that I smack the trigger group into place much harder, and also that the lock lever must be worn.)

    Hello Everyone,
Clearly, I am new to the site, and was referred here by someone who has won shooting awards, and who is someone I have grown to trust over the past 6 years. I am happy to be a new member of the forum/site and am praying my question/problem can be answered/fixed before a major incident occurs.

I am having an issue with my Yugo Model 59 SKS, whereby the trigger group has been consistently falling out in the following three circumstances: 1) chambering of a round with the safety engaged (trigger group falls out), 2) when no rounds are present and the bolt slides freely forward with the safety engaged (trigger group falls out), and 3) when the stock is lightly bumped with the bolt already forward with the safety engaged and fully loaded with a round chambered (trigger group falls out).

Additionally, the trigger group will fall out when the safety is on, the weapon unloaded, and the magazine is opened up. It's as though the safety mechanism is messing everything up with respect to the trigger group.
I must say that the last condition is the most frightening since, like yourselves, I am very familiar with the serious damage an SKS round can do to unprotected parts of the human body.
I thank you for your time, and I look forward to your responses.

    Sincerely,

    Mattius Maximus

Your take down latch that is behind the safety should snap into place firmly. If it does not then there is a problem with it, maybe bent. Picture can help.
Also the safety only blocks the trigger from moving, that is it. Its really not all that safe IMO, so never rely on it to keep yourself safe. Your safety should be between your ears.

i suggest you take it out of the stock and reassemble and see of you can replicate the issue without any ammunition present though

The take down latch does not appear to be bent, and the problem does not occur when the weapon is assembled in the absence of the stock.

You are probably not pushing the trigger group together fully. I can take quite a bit of force. You should hear a audible click when you push the trigger group in.

i assume you are using the standard wood stock

sorry these results are not as useful as i thought when it is assembled without the stock and the safety is still on can you pull it apart just using one finger tugging down on the triggerguard

if not i suggest pulling out the little spring in the stock and use it without one

if you are using an aftermarket stock there may be some minor fitting issues

i dont think ive ever seen an aftermarket stock that didn't take a little fitting
