    remington 58 action

I am working on a reminton 58 and I can't get the action to stay open . I have throughly cleaned all the debri out of all inside areas. I am wondering if the " plate " that sits on the action bars is the problem. Or is the trigger assembly not catching.

    Thanks , chris

I had the exact same problem with My 58. There's a thread over at The High Road forum where I got it figured out. It's your Shell Carrier

Look at the pictures carefully and see if your carrier is misssing the "ramp" at the back that engages the carrier latch.

Order a new Carrier Assembly for an 1100 from Remington or www.Numrich.com.

Hope this helps you fix your problem.
No government deprives its citizens of rights without asserting that its actions are "reasonable" and "necessary" for high-sounding reasons such as "public safety."
A right that can be regulated is no right at all, only a temporary privilege dependent upon the good will of the very government
officials that such right is designed to constrain.
