Sacramento gunsmith

Hello all,

I'm looking for a gunsmith in Sacramento. I have an old .22 rifle that I inherited from my grandmother. It needs to be reblued, and I would like to have it done professionally. I plan on giving it to one of my uncles so it can be passed down again; I'm not having kids, so I have no one to pass it down to. I would like to keep it on that side of the family... Next time I head back to Florida, I would like to give it back to him, refurbished. It works fine, no issues, just lots of surface rust.

Reblueing is easy to do. Go by sportsmanswarehouse and buy the degreaser and paste blueing kit. Sand it down and make sure u finish sand with 1000 grit. My brother inlaw and I did it to one of my shotguns and it turned out great.

Its not in Sac but its close enough. I would head up to J&G gunsmithing in Granite Bay. The guys are great and they have a big selection of guns to look at when you go in there to drop off and pick up the .22.

+1 on J&G Gunsmith I used them on 1911 sights installation.... don't bother going to Gary at Just Guns....

Thanks for the info guys! I hope to get time tomorrow afternoon to talk to a couple of people to get an estimate. A friend of mine also recommended the J&G, so I'll probably go there.

Most places won't blue due to the dangers involved... I am sending my Winchester Model 94 to T&T Gunsmithing 916-712-1940, they do a variety of finishes. I heard that Ford's in Pennsylvania will do an old school bluing though.

One work of caution is that sometimes the sharp edges of the gun will get rounded in the preparation process. To get a good finish the surface must be mirror like before bluing.
