First one is Curtis' us made flat with all the holes located.
Second one is an actual Polish made 80% receiver already bent but without all the side holes located or pre-drilled.
So.... Kind of depends on what you want and available tooling.
bending one of Curtis' flats is a 4 minute job at a BP using his jig but will not have selector
Markings.
The second one is more 'correct' looking but more work to complete. -
The second should not require a couple of hours drilling. It takes maybe 20-30 minutes or more than the first to finish (depending on experience) with the below jig.
Here's the solution for the Polish receiver.
Both require different jigs. If going with the first, a bending jig is needed. If going with the second, the above jig is utilized. Apart from which jig to use, the rest is built in the same fashion.Last edited by caiman; 06-13-2012, 8:47 AM.Comment

Didn't realize you were asking for attendance to a BP.
Is the BP that you will be attending in possession of the newest jig? - The host will be able to tell you.
Should the host not have the newer jig than short of you buying the jig yourself and reselling it later, your at the mercy of what jigs the host can provide; most commonly a flat bending jig.
There is another method, but that one is more work and I would not recommend for the beginner.
ETA - to give you a specific answer to your question. ' which one is preferred"
If the host has the newer jig than get the Polish receiver as it is correct for a Polish AKM.
If the host does not have this newer jig, than get the flat.
If you are not building a Polish AKM, than get the flat.
The rear UF trunnion holes on the receiver do not take that long to drill out with a dremel.
To give you an example,
I don't buy any predrilled flats for any of my builds. I only buy the $20 non hole version and make my own holes. Advantage to this is that I get the holes precise as the predrilled flats still require some filing here and there.Comment
