Help~ Some blue oxidation on Muzzle

    Hi all.... stupid question here...

I have a AR 15 that I just bought, and when I got it, nothing seemed amiss.

Just yesterday, I saw that there was a few areas in the muzzle area that seemed like salt, white blue hued..... seemed like oxidation to me..... I got a toothpik and scratched some of it away...

question is.... can i use WD40 to clean and srub off ? What went wrong, since It is relatively dry and no water touched the muzzle...it has been kept in a new safe for about 3 weeks.

    Any help appreciated.

    In or on?

if it in the muzzle that's copper fouling that changed color due to your copper solvent or just on it's own and it was not removed.

On the muzzle it might be some leftover gunk from the parkerizing.

In any event you should be able to remove it with a heavy dose of bore cleaner. Something like Hoppes, nothing any more aggressive for the outside of the weapon.
Now if it's inside the bore. A good copper solvent like Sweets 7.62, it's good stuff

But don't scrub to hard as you can damage the Parkerizing by getting carried away. Nylon brush should be all thats needed for external issues.

If there's blue green it's copper oxide. Nothing to worry about, just do what kc said, copper solvent then clean as normal.

I will tell you my AR's muzzle break will get caked with copper fouling. and the sweets doesn't help as it does turn it blue/green right now.

I just scrub the crap out of it.
