Hi Folks,
I am starting my first solo build and I wanted to get some info on installing the side scope mount base. I've already done some research and now I have a couple semi-educated questions I'd like help with.
1 - Rivets - I bought my mount base from AK builder and the base did not come with rivets. I'm installing this on a standard Romy G. I know I'll be using the standard front rear trunion long rivet for the rear-most mount hole. The front hole looks like a standard short rivet but the middle rivet looks like it should be longer than what I've got. Anyone have an exact length for the middle rivet and maybe a lead on where to get it?
2 - Rear trunion front rivet - The long rear trunion rivets are swell neck rivets. When I dry fit things earlier the front rear trunion rivet will end up maybe 1/8th inch shorter then the rear. I'm thinking maybe use a drill bit to countersink hole a bit to account for the swell neck and maybe give me just a little bit of extra length to make the 2 rivets closer to length OR Use the swell neck side of the rivet for the right side of the receiver and just hammer the mount side of the rivet flat with a hammer? Thoughts/ideas?
Any additional tips, tricks, reminders or nuggets of wisdom would be appreciated.
Thanks all
Dan
