    I've used Dewey rods forever.
I would not use just any .17 cal rod for a .22 or .223. A .17 caliber Dewey sure just be sure your brushes and patch aren't to tight

My 17 caliber rod has a smaller diameter threads for the jags and they won't fit my 22 caliber brushes and jags. It is also very flexible and I would not use it in my 22 bores.

You shouldn't have any problems with the .17cal Tipton carbon fiber rods. I use it with my 5.45. It's easy to use on the AKs to push a patch from chamber to muzzle. Just make sure to use the right patch size.

They do make adapters for the smaller rods to take regular sized brushes
