    1911 Barrel Hood drops down

Hey guys, I have a question on a Para P16 Limited /1911 were the barrel hood drops down when in lock up when pressed. Maybe .010 - .015 Pops back up when released.
The accuracy has opened up too. This was used in USPSA Limited and was made in Canada.
Is this an barrel link issue or need a new barrel? Or ?

Let me know what you think.
    Thanks

it could be an issue with the barrel feet, the link or the slide release.

Start with the cheapest thing first. Check slide release for excessive slop and wear. Next Check the link for fit with the slide release. You could go with a longer link. Then check the barrel for proper lock up.

Barrel link has nothing to do with lockup, it just pulls the barrel down during unlocking. Lockup is between the machined area under the barrel and the slid stop pin. Either there has been alot of wear, or that gun was always like that. Fitting a new barrel properly would be the proper fix.

The barrel link is NOT part of lockup in a 1911/2011 platform.
The lockup occurs between the barrel, slide and slide-stop in the frame.
If you can move the barrel in lockup, it's because the fit is too loose, like a military gun.
If you want more precision, the fit should be tighter.

The job of the link is ONLY to pull the barrel out of lockup as the slide moves rearward.
The rest of the lockup is purely the slide stop pin's fit to the bottom lugs of the barrel as well as the slide's fit to the frame and also the bushing to barrel and bushing to slide on the front end of the barrel.

The real solution to your sloppy fit is to get a new gunsmith-fit barrel and bushing and have it actually fitted.
If you use drop-in parts, you generally get parts made to "milspec" which are rattly loose in order to work in ANY gun that people may want to "drop in" the parts.

I do precise barrel/frame/slide/bushing fitting of 1911/2011 platform pistols.
