Thanks for the compliment but there are plenty of extremely experienced builders very close to you that I would personally recommend in a heartbeat.
Check out some of your local BPs for AKTeam members (many of which are FAR more experienced than I).

Does anyone sell populated U.S. barrels?

Yes, though AK-Builder (Curtis) will likely be the more carefully built and head-spaced front ends and his prices are reasonable.

            Thanks for the information, guys!
I'll factor this in if/when I decide on another build.
A buddy of mine is looking into building his own AK and I was not sure if the newer barrels were any good.

I had to replace a brand new Romy WASR barrel recently as it was key-holing on all ammo. This is the same maker of barrels that are coming in as "chrome lined Romanian". Downside people aren't realizing is the new Romy's aren't "national defense/ surplus" quality. It's just export quality like the rest of the WASR build.

Never had a complaint from Curtis's barrels (as far as quality, not to be confused with parts kit installation quality). I've heard several stories of phenomenal accuracy using surplus Yugo ammo through them.
