    Star BS issue

Hopefully this is in the right fourm.

I bought a Star BS a few months ago and finally got around to taking it apart and cleaning it.

I was having issues taking it apart. The mount under the barrel for the link would not go through the slide area to remove it. Upon close examination, there appeared to be some burrs preventing it from coming apart.

I used a small file and carefully filed the burrs down to get the barrel out.

Then when putting it back together I ran into the same issue of burrs, but in the frame area where the link finally ends up.

My big questions are: Is this something to be concerned about? And is this normal?

I never ran into something like this in my 1911’s.

    Any advise is welcome.

    Thanks in advance,

    Robert

Spanish heat treating leaves much to be desired.
It would not surprise me to see peening.
Your nice deburring of the impact surfaces should keep it going for a good while longer.

Thanks ar15. I was hoping that it won't keep me from shooting it.

Now to look for more mags. Has anyone found any other brands of mags that might work?

Yes, as a last resort. Their quality is sometimes questionable.
