I'll need some pictures of the mag catch area and the inside of the magwell from above. Might be more work than worth. Sometimes it's really easy depending on the model.

My first AR was like yours. I had to destroy the mag to get it out but in the end it was held in by glue and a blind pin installed through the front of the mag well. Once I got it out and all cleaned up I Welded the hole shut and have never had a problem with it. I have also helped another member with the same issue and his was epoxied into the mag well. We ended up putting it in the freezer over night and smacking the mag with a hammer after removing the mag catch and it came right out.

Try pulling the floorplate off the mag and looking into the magazine and see if something is holding it into the mag well.

Thanks a million guys. It's been extremely tough finding anyone that knows what I'm asking. I'm located in San Diego county in the city of Escondido. And Im writing this at the moment on my phone as soon as I download pictures to the computer. But I have the EXACT same model as ST22.

Awesome info ST22. But my next question. When it comes to your magazine going in and out; does it use the existing button do change magazines in and out?

Not sure what you are asking about the existing magazine, but since you are in Escondido, it makes it simple to meet as I'm close by (10-15 minutes max). We can meet at a range close by and you can give it a go. The work was done at DGM in San Diego and I was fortunate enough to pick this up from a relative that had recently upgraded. Just PM if interested. I'll try to get the details from the gunsmith at DGM and I'll be sure to pass the info along.

great help to everyone. you guys are awesome. I have a dremel and the tools to hollow out the lower. My question now is: once that is hollow, i understand to remove the internal top fed magazine i need to drill out the rivet that holds it. Am i correct? once that happens am i good to go? or is there anything more i need to do to be able to insert/remove magazines from the lower?

There should be a rivet in front of the magwell. It is soft and is drilled out easily. After that a dremel will cut out the magwell fairly simply. Then you can pull out the internal magazine and throw on a bullet button. It isn't too hard.
