    Threading Barrel for Compensator (DIY)

Ok guys I know this has probably been posted previously so I will keep is short n to the point!
    1. can anyone give me a lead on how to contact ar15barrels by Phone,PM,or E-mail.
    2. Has anyone successfully threaded their barrel (AR-15/ .800 OD/ stainless steel) using a die and thread alignment tool (TAT)? I will have a friend turn the muzzle down appropriately to start.

If your friend can turn down the muzzle have him cut the threads while it is chucked in the lathe...

I dont really have confidence in him to single point cut threads in my barrel. Only turning it down to .500 for me to use a dieI kno that sounds a little weird.

i usually contact him through this site. hes the moderator
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Have him turn it down and make two or three light passes threading it. this will get your die started and started straight. It is way to easy to thread a barrel with a die cock eyed.
Or you can send it to me and I can have it done in a few days.

If a thread alignment tool is used with the die will that reduce the chances for effn it up

It'll help but don't count on it to be perfectly straight

And what are you going to do when you bottom out the die? you are about 1/8" short on the threads due to the alignment tool if you are using the set up i'm thinking.
Just have your buddy start the thread for you with the lathe. have him machine the threads about .010" to .015" deep. This will allow you to start you die easier and it will be much more likely to cut straight threads. We did this all the time in the tool room on something that was needed quick and dirty.
