DXF or DWG files for engraving.

I have a friend who is an engraver by trade and he is going to do some engraving before I machine some lowers. he uses DXF or DWG files.

Does anyone have a DXF or DWG file for an AR lower? If not he can create what I want, but it would make it easier.

What I really want to start him with is an accurate outline of a lower with the pin holes located so he can accurately place the engraving for the selector and ensure any other engraving I do will not be drilled through when machining.

He can place the text/drawings, etc and I am sure he could figure out, but I would like to make it easier and more surefire.

I was not aware that DXF and DWG files were autocad. That makes sense and I bet I already have them on my computer. Should have searched that first.

in a pinch: just scan a lower.
it will give you a 1:1 "canvas" on which to compose & arrange your elements.

I haven't gotten too far on it. I need to get the files over to my buddy and then ship him the paper weights. I tried to download a viewer last night, but that didn't work. I'm going to send him the files tonight and then we will go from there.

It will take a little while to get done and I am in no rush since (fingers crossed) we will be moving in the next couple of weeks.

Good idea goober. Hadn't thought about doing that.
