    Saiga 12 conversion

I finally dumped the money and have a S-12 in jail. I can't leave it in stock configuration. I've been looking at "conversion parts" but can't say I have seen anything that really draws my attention. I am not scared to drill out rivets or cut a pistol grip hole (If I need to..didn't look the gun over alot before jailing it). Bottom line is, does a combloc surplus trigger gaurd/mag catch fit onto a Saiga 12? I am thinking a Bulgy 74 trigger gaurd might fit and lock up on the S12 mag...? How about the front end? Obviously I would like to make the front end to look like the AK, not necessarly needing the Bulgy 74 muzzle brake style...would actually like the front sight with a "breeching type brake". Anyone point me in the right direction? Again, drilling out and reriveting isnt an issue for me. I have several **** AK builds under my belt and i'm sure I can figure it out once I get it outta jail but I wouldnt mind having some things ordered up before i pick it up next Monday.

Check out Dinzag.com he has some of the items your wanting to do. Carolina shooter supply has everything you need as well.

Do you have a rivet press? if not your going to have to get one. Carolina has the trigger guard/pistol grip nut as a single unit.

Question? open the gas system and remove the plug. How many gas holes do you have?
Depending... (not always) if you want to run low brass shot gun shells you may have to open up the holes. You can shoot a couple hundred rounds of slug and 00 to break it in but it will cost a lot.

Some of the newer models haven't had any issues after the conversion. If you do that is the best fix. make sure you polish the hammer and bolt regardless.

      Have fun and enjoy...

Yes I have a rivet jig and all the tolls for the conversion. Does anyone know if a AK74 or 47 trigger gaurd will work on the S12?

I doubt it will. Totally different design, it's not riveted on there. It's almost part of the receiver.
as Jeff mentioned AK-Builder sells conversion parts. He's got a rivet design TG for the S12.

            I hope this helps.

ok no problem. Having it sit in jail and not being able to look it over sucks.
