PSL / FPK need help putting it together

I have a matching #'s kit and a Lower. I need to find someone near Modesto who has the tools and knowledge to help me get this thing together. I don't want to learn how to rivet I want it done right. Should I go to an AK build party or maybe someone knows a local gunsmith with the skills in my area?

well...ditch that AR lower and get yourself a psl receiver.

...Ok all BS aside There are some members up there who I believe have done PSL builds before and have the proper tools. hopefully one will pop in here. a build party might be your best bet. Also If you don't want to rivet it then it won't be "done right". That is the right way

Found the kit on Gunbroker but it wasn't cheap $400.

No. *sigh* You will never...EVER...live it down. If I've learned one thing about calguns and build parties, it's that just when you think everyone has forgotten that embarrassing thing you did....they'll remind you.

Well I will say this the next time I order something from Ak builder I'm getting an extra set of rivets and redoing my rifle. Those screws are starting to bug me. And now I have most of the tools made to do the job right.

My PSL build was a numbers matching kit and a Romanian receiver (without rear trunnion) from Centerfire Systems. It went together like any other AK build I have done with the exception of needing to put my HF 20 press on cinder blocks to let me press in the barrel. I finished this build almost 6 months ago and finally broke down and dropped it off at Ammo Bros Cerritos to take down the scope rail. I was holding out thinking I could cut the rail down somehow myself, but then decided not to ruin a really nice rifle. I've put roughly 50 rounds down the pipe with accurate and flawless performance. As easy as this build really was, it may actually be my favorite. Good luck with yours. Too bad your not in L.A., I wouldn't mind giving you a hand with it.

dn't forget to make the piece needed to press the barrel back in. Tujunga toes had a thread on it. I built one haven't tried it yet.

Thanks. Trimming the scope mount is going to be another opportunity to goof up. That's another reason I'm thinking about just hiring a pro to get it together.

I can help with the build and the scope rail. I have a machinest here in town that is familiar with them. it would be best to have the rail done before the build though. pm me if your interested.

Trying to retrieve part of my magazine lock tha had been under spring tension just moments before.

yikes, just no telling how things can end when all that tension is un-spring!!! I had to wait a few weeks for a new little plastic bushing/plunger and spring to arrive in the mail to replace the one I released . . . I had considered if I could to jerry rig a replacement in the meantime . . . I guess I would have gone under water too if I thought it was there . . .

must be those moments that moved us to want to help others . . .
