    Ruger Redhawk grip locator removal

I got the bright idea to install aftermarket grips on my redhawk .44 mag revolver, and made the mistake of choosing Hogue grips. I gather from the vague instructions that the grip locator panel needs to be removed. Instructions say to push from right to left, but it just aint happenin'. Any words of wisdom on how to remove this part before I put it through the drill press and force it out would be appreciated.

Use a punch and hit with a hammer.

If using a punch and hitting it with a hammer doesn't work - hit it harder. It's just press fit in, doubt if whacking it left or right makes any difference.

Thank you for the information. I used a socket and c-clamp to press the part out.
