Changing Flash Hider - vice block needed?

    What should I expect...

Do I need to invest in vice blocks for my upper? Or can I just stabilize the upper on a flat surface and take a wrench to the muzzle device?

    NOTE: barrel is not pinned

I've never had to put an AR in a vise block to remove the muzzle device.

You need a barrel vice, not an upper vice block.....if it doesn't twist off easily.

If using a barrel vice, do you have to remove the handguard from barrel? Barrel from upper receiver?

Appreciate the feedback. I'll have some time this weekend to give it a try. First, without a vice. Let's hope I get lucky.
